 The S-18 is a high power 18" subwoofer, equipped with the high quality workhorse 18LW1400 from 18 Sound. The solid construction and carefull design of S-18 gives a first class low frequency reproduction, even at very high levels.
Extremely high power-rating coupled with a high sensitivity and carefull acoustic design with more attack in the 38-100 Hz region, gives perfect support for high-power mid/high systems, including line-arrays.

| | The S-18 is designed to meet the demand for a compact high powered low frequency subwoofer in touring and other professional use.
The transducer is the well known 18 Sound 18LW1400, providing outstanding low frequency reproduction.
A new state-of-the-art voice coil based on Eighteen Sound’s Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) increases this control, providing high levels of thermal stability and durability. This ISV technology is based on a high strength fiberglas former with half the coil wound on the outside and half on the inside and bonded together using unique high temperature resin adhesives. Hence, a balanced linear motor unit, exerting an exceptionally high force factor is achieved.
The low distortion and unmatched sound quality of the 18LW1400 has been significantly improved by the Double Demodulating Rings (DDR) embedded in the pole piece of the magnetic structure. These have been designed to dramatically reduce the intermodulation and harmonic distortion while improving the transient response.
Excellent heat dissipation has been achieved from the special basket design which incorporates air channels between the basket and the magnetic top plate. In addition, 8 air vents incorporated into the back plate are aligned with the voice coil to force air into the lower part of the gap.
The cabinet is constructed by 15mm waterproof birch with solid reinforcements to elliminate coloration of sound by vibrations. Heavy duty handles and mating stacking ribs makes stacking secure and easy. Transport is easy as heavy duty wheels are placed on back, making it able to cross even brick or dirt roads. Stand adapter is incorporated in cabinet for mounting mid/high box on stick, providing a small convenient set-up for live-sound or other mobile applications.
The finnish is in a very durable, textured black paint, and the grille is powdercoated, perforated steel with black fireretardent foam attached on back to protect against dust.
